ABOUT 9PM

Nine Pages Media (9PM) is a publishing and multimedia company supporting the development and amplification of Black Creatives. 9PM seeks to bring the authors' their stories, knowledge, and artistry to wider audiences: uplifting the narratives behind the work of creatives, nurturing networks, and encouraging an authentic celebration of diversity.

As a multi-hyphenate artist and writer, founder and CEO Asia Rainey-Ani personally understood the community of talented writers and artists (many, people of color) who lacked access to the resources needed to produce high-quality, competitive publications.

She began casually offering help with books in 2010 without a “name,” and for four years also studied the steps beyond the work of copyediting to learn how to take books from completed manuscripts through the stages of production, and then further helped authors navigate processes and platforms for printing and distribution. Working with highly skilled graphic artists, illustrators, and photographers, she was determined to both improve the aesthetics of her clients’ books, and to treat those partnerships with creative professionals as a classroom for building new skills of her own as well as an understanding of their processes.

All of this paved the way for the birth of Nine Pages Media as a publishing company, and though publishing services are still provided, 9PM is expanding into a wider platform for distribution, marketing, and advocacy for the phenomenal voices who deserve to be heard within the Black Creative community.
